Publication ethics

How we protect the integrity of everything we publish.

FTI Publishers follows the Core Practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Editors, reviewers and authors are all expected to uphold them.

Fair peer review

Double-blind review by independent experts. Reviewers declare conflicts of interest, keep manuscripts confidential and may not upload them to public AI tools. Decisions are based on scholarly merit alone.

Originality checks

Every submission is screened with similarity-detection software. Plagiarism, self-plagiarism and duplicate publication lead to rejection, and cases found after publication are handled using COPE guidance.

Data integrity

Fabrication, falsification and image manipulation are serious misconduct. Authors must share underlying data on request. Confirmed cases lead to retraction and notification of the authors' institutions.

Responsible use of AI

We use automated tools, including AI, to help with completeness, similarity and reference checks, reviewer suggestions and production tasks. Qualified people make every editorial decision; AI never accepts or rejects a manuscript. Manuscripts are processed only on EU-based or self-hosted systems that do not use submitted content for training. Authors must disclose any use of generative AI in their work, and AI tools cannot be listed as authors.
