Journal of Infrastructure, Materials and Mechanical Engineering
JIMME
About the journal
The Journal of Infrastructure, Materials and Mechanical Engineering publishes peer-reviewed research that makes structures, machines and materials safer, stronger and more efficient. We welcome experimental, numerical and design studies in civil, structural, mechanical, materials, manufacturing and process engineering.
Call for papers: Volume 1 (2026)
We are now accepting submissions for our first volume. Accepted articles are published online as soon as they are ready and receive a Crossref DOI.
JIMME has 5 research areas: Civil & Structural Engineering, Transport & Urban Infrastructure, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Manufacturing, Chemical & Process Engineering. View research areas →

Aims and scope
JIMME considers original work in, but not limited to, the following areas. Electrical, electronic, robotics and aerospace work goes to JISAT, and energy systems and environmental engineering to JGTER.
- Structural engineering and structural health monitoring
- Geotechnical engineering and foundations
- Construction engineering and management
- Transport infrastructure: roads, rail, bridges and tunnels
- Mechanical design, dynamics and vibration
- Thermofluids and heat transfer
- Materials science, composites and construction materials
- Additive and advanced manufacturing
- Chemical and process engineering
- Reliability, failure analysis and maintenance
Article types
- Research article
- Original experimental, numerical or analytical studies
- Review
- Systematic or critical reviews of a field
- Technical note
- Short results, new test methods or design notes
- Case study
- Lessons from a specific structure, project or failure
Experimental papers must state the test standards used and the number of specimens. Data, models and simulation input files should be shared where possible so others can verify the results.
Research areas
Every JIMME article belongs to one research area, so readers and reviewers find work in their own field. Choose your research area when you submit.

For authors
Read these points before you submit to JIMME. Word limits, reference style and reporting standards are in the full JIMME author guidelines.
Before you submit
- Check that your paper fits the aims and scope.
- Prepare an anonymised manuscript with no author names or affiliations.
- Prepare a separate title page with authors, affiliations, funding and conflicts of interest.
- Write a short cover letter confirming the work is original and not under review elsewhere.
- Include a data availability statement and disclose any use of generative AI.
Fees and licence
- No fee is charged at submission.
- An article processing charge of €1,399 is invoiced only after acceptance.
- Payment never affects the editorial decision.
- Withdrawal after peer review has started: €499.
- Authors keep copyright, and articles are published under CC BY 4.0.
